It’s about time I introduced you to my furry inspiration, Annie! 🐾
Our little rescue cat reminds me that even in your darkest moments, hope can shine through.
Our dog Barney found Annie in the garden. It was 14th February 2021 and we’d had overnight temperatures of around -10 during the week. We hadn’t clocked over prior days why Barney seemed so interested in one particular shrub, but this one morning he got more insistent and we decided to check it out.
The vets think she was around 7 years old when we found her. She weighed less than 2lbs and they estimated she wouldn’t have lasted many more days had we not found her.
We took her in for the night to look for an owner (my husband is allergic to cats) or so we thought. 3 years later here she is, now well and truly a member of our pack and looking marvelous.
Despite her age and being litter tray trained she was very afraid of humans for a long time after we took her in. It took patience to build her confidence especially with Barney. He too had a big adjustment, especially being sooo spoilt.
She now has her own room, is well cared for and loves Barney to bits. She rubs her face against him most mornings whilst he licks her ears. Occasional swipes and chasing aside, they are best pals…so long as she doesn’t come into the lounge in the evening which is definitely Barneys territory. 🐶
We’ve nursed Annie through life changing radioiodine therapy, tail injuries and all sorts of issues and she bounces back every time.
She doesn’t opt to leave our garden nowadays and is mostly only found outside when it’s sunny, but she is healthy, sweet and happy.
Adopted when she needed it most, she embodies resilience and the power of perseverance.
She also serves as a reminder that things can turn around quickly. Even when life feels overwhelming keep pushing forward, brighter days are just around the corner. 😻
